The iconic woo hoo chant from Blur's Song 2, the Britpop anthem used for rugby, football goals, and high energy celebration moments in edits.

This clip captures the explosive chorus of Blur's Song 2, built around Damon Albarn shouting woo hoo over distorted guitars and pounding drums. The sound is short, loud and instantly recognisable, with a raw garage energy that feels like a crowd surging to its feet. Listeners hear triumph and chaos at once, which is why the burst works so well dropped over a try, a goal or any sudden win. It does not build slowly, it hits immediately and turns an ordinary moment into a celebration.

Song 2 was released by English band Blur in 1997 on their self-titled album and was originally a parody of grunge that became their biggest international hit. Its two minute rush and shouted chorus made it perfect for stadiums, and it spread through football, rugby coverage, adverts and the FIFA 98 video game. The woo hoo hook now works like crowd cheering in edit form, a shorthand for release and triumph that audiences recognise in under a second even without knowing the full song.

What is the Rugby Woo Hoo sound?

It is the famous woo hoo chorus from Song 2 by Blur, clipped from the track's explosive hook. The shout sits over heavy guitars and drums, giving the short clip the feel of a stadium celebration rather than a normal pop chorus.

Where is the Woo Hoo song from?

Song 2 comes from Blur's self titled album released in 1997. Written as a playful take on American grunge, it became a global hit and a long running favourite at football and rugby matches because of its simple, chantable chorus.

How do creators use the Song 2 sound?

Creators drop it at the exact moment of a win, try, goal or reveal to add instant energy. It works best uncut for a few seconds over action or a replay, then faded quickly before the music overwhelms dialogue or commentary.
