The iconic Ooh Wah Ah Ah Ah vocal burst from Disturbed's Down with the Sickness, used as a meme sound effect for wild reactions and edits today.

This is the short, percussive vocal shout that helps launch Disturbed's Down with the Sickness, performed by singer David Draiman. It is not a lyric so much as a rhythmic animal-like cry, delivered in tight staccato bursts that sound like ooh wah ah ah ah. The voice is raw, strained and instantly recognisable, cutting through silence in about a second. Listeners hear it as both aggressive and absurd, which is why it lands as comedy when dropped over calm or serious footage. It signals a sudden loss of control.

The clip comes from Down with the Sickness, released in 2000 on Disturbed's debut album The Sickness. Frontman David Draiman added the staccato cry as a primal rhythmic accent, and it became the song's most imitated moment. Heavy radio play and later music video sharing helped it escape metal into mainstream meme culture, where editors isolate the one second burst from the track. Its mix of genuine intensity and silliness keeps it useful as shorthand for going feral, freaking out or transforming in edits.
