The Om Nom screaming sound effect is a short, high-pitched cartoon scream from the Cut the Rope character, used in memes for sudden panic or comic surprise.

The Om Nom screaming sound is a brief, frantic cartoon shriek that rises quickly and cuts off almost as fast as it starts, lasting just over a second. It has the squeaky, exaggerated tone of a small animated creature in sudden alarm, with no words or music behind it, just pure panicked noise. Played over a clip, it instantly makes a fall, a jump scare, or a failed attempt feel funnier and more dramatic, because the listener recognises that familiar moment of cartoon terror. It works best as a punchline accent rather than a background noise.

Om Nom is the small green candy-loving monster from Cut the Rope, the popular mobile puzzle game first released in 2010, where players cut ropes to feed him sweets. His exaggerated cartoon reactions became instantly recognisable to players, and short clips of his sounds later spread through meme edits, gaming videos and short-form posts. Because the scream is wordless and only about a second long, it transfers easily between contexts, from a gaming fail to a real-life mishap, which keeps it in regular use as a quick reaction sound.
