This sound captures Michael Scott’s horrified response to discovering that Toby Flenderson has returned to the office. His protest begins with a stunned “No, God, please, no” before escalating into repeated cries and a prolonged shout. Steve Carell’s delivery moves rapidly from disbelief to theatrical despair, making the clip instantly readable even without visual context. The drawn-out reaction gives an edit time to reveal bad news, an unwelcome person, or a frustrating outcome while heightening the moment through Michael’s exaggerated sense of catastrophe.

The clip comes from the American television comedy The Office and is performed by Steve Carell as regional manager Michael Scott. It appears in “Frame Toby,” a 2008 episode in which Michael discovers that human resources representative Toby Flenderson has returned to the Scranton branch. The character’s extreme distress turned the scene into a widely recognized reaction meme. Its clear emotional progression, repeated wording, and extended final yell keep it useful for videos about unwelcome returns, terrible outcomes, and sudden disappointment.
