It starts as a smug chuckle and rises into a dramatic, theatrical burst of laughter that feels intense, arrogant and slightly disturbing. The sound instantly tells viewers that someone thinks they have completely won. In edits and memes, it adds a sharp sense of superiority, madness or dark comedy, making even a simple reaction shot feel more extreme and unforgettable.

Light Yagami is the main character of Death Note, the manga by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata that was adapted into the 2006 anime. His laugh became one of the series' most remembered audio moments because it captures his shift from brilliant student to openly triumphant antagonist. The clip spread widely through anime forums, YouTube edits, reaction videos and meme compilations. It still shows up in villain edits and ironic posts whenever creators want a dramatic sense of ego, control or total psychological collapse.
