Bulgarka angle grinder sound effect of a power tool cutting metal with loud grinding and sparks, used for workshop scenes, memes and DIY video edits.

This is the harsh, high pitched whine of a bulgarka, the Eastern European name for an angle grinder, spinning up and biting into metal. The sound starts with a rising motor scream, then settles into a rough, crackling grind with intermittent screeches as the disc cuts and throws sparks. It feels industrial and slightly dangerous, instantly placing a scene in a garage, construction site or workshop. Even without visuals, listeners picture bright sparks flying and smell hot metal, which makes the clip convincing as a realistic tool effect and funny when dropped into an unexpected, quiet moment.

Bulgarka is the common Russian and Eastern European nickname for an angle grinder, a name that stuck after early models were imported from Bulgaria during the Soviet era. Short recordings of the tool have circulated for years on soundboards and video editing forums because few household sounds are as instantly recognisable. Creators reuse this longer sixteen second take for looping workshop ambience, realistic cutting scenes, gaming builds and comedy edits where an exaggerated industrial noise contrasts with a calm or domestic setting.
