The classic Aaugh scream from Peanuts, Charlie Brown's short frustrated yell used as a reaction sound for fails, surprise and comic exasperation.

The Aaugh is a single, sharp scream that lasts just over a second and lands instantly. It starts at full volume with an open, strained yell, then cuts off abruptly, leaving no tail or background noise. That sudden burst captures pure frustration, shock and disbelief in one syllable, which is why it feels funny rather than frightening. Viewers recognise the emotion before they process the situation, so the clip works as punctuation for a mistake, a jump scare or an over the top reaction to bad news or a failed attempt.

Aaugh became famous as Charlie Brown's signature exclamation in Charles Schulz's Peanuts comic strip, first published in 1950, and later in the animated television specials. Charlie Brown shouted it whenever a kite tangled, a baseball game collapsed or Lucy pulled the football away. The expression moved from print to animation and then to online soundboards, where the isolated scream was clipped and shared as a standalone reaction. Its long life comes from its simplicity, a universally understood burst of exasperation that needs no context.
