About this sound

A distorted Tom and Jerry meme sound featuring blown-out audio from Tom. People use it in Japanese meme edits for chaos, pain, or sudden overreaction clips.

This sound is the Japanese meme clip often called Ongare Tom, a blown-out, heavily distorted Tom and Jerry audio used for maximum chaos. The compression is intentionally harsh, so the sound crackles and peaks in a way that makes Tom’s reaction feel louder, more desperate, and funnier than normal cartoon audio. It works like an instant exaggeration button: a fail, jump scare, or absurd reveal suddenly feels ten times more dramatic. Viewers usually read it as panic, pain, frustration, or total sensory overload, which is why it lands so well in short meme edits.

Ongare Tom is a Japanese internet meme sound built from Tom and Jerry audio, with the key joke being the extreme speaker-breaking distortion. The term refers to clipped, blown-out sound, and the format became common in Japanese meme edits, reposts, and short videos where exaggerated reactions play well. It stays popular because the Tom and Jerry source is instantly recognizable even when the audio is wrecked, so the clip communicates panic and comic suffering in a fraction of a second.
