About this sound

The famous Shooting Stars meme song clip, used in fail edits and surreal floating montages when someone falls, gets launched or zones out.

This clip is the recognizable section of the song Shooting Stars that became a staple meme audio online. It has a bright, synth-heavy electronic sound with a smooth groove and a dreamy, weightless feel. In videos, creators usually drop it right after a fail, slip or sudden impact, then cut to the person drifting through space or flying across random scenes. The contrast between a clumsy moment and the polished, cosmic music makes the joke feel bigger, stranger and more exaggerated than the original clip on its own.

Shooting Stars is a 2008 electronic track by Australian duo Bag Raiders. Years later, a short excerpt became widely known through meme edits where a person appears to fall out of reality and drift through surreal scenes. The format spread heavily on YouTube, Facebook and short-form repost pages, often built around wipes, greenscreen space backgrounds and exaggerated motion. It is still used because the song's glossy synth lead instantly signals a dramatic, absurd transition, similar to a bass drop sound effect in meme editing.
