About this sound

The iconic "Welcome to the family, son" line from Resident Evil 7, used in memes, gaming edits and sudden capture or betrayal clips.

This sound is the famous “Welcome to the family, son” quote delivered by Jack Baker in Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. It is a short spoken clip with a menacing, taunting tone that lands like a punchline right before things go wrong. The line works so well because it sounds both welcoming and threatening at the same time, which gives it a darkly funny edge. In edits, it instantly signals that someone has been trapped, recruited, initiated or dragged into chaos against their will.

This quote comes from Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, released by Capcom in 2017. Jack Baker says it during one of the game's most memorable early scenes, which helped turn the line into a recognizable horror gaming meme. Online, people reuse it whenever someone gets unwillingly initiated into a team, fandom or bad situation. Its staying power comes from the contrast between the friendly wording and the threatening delivery, making it useful in both horror edits and joke reaction posts.
