About this sound

A short reaction clip of the line “This is brilliant,” widely used from the Jeremy Clarkson meme when praising something before a funny comparison.

This sound is a brief spoken reaction built around the line “This is brilliant,” delivered in a dry, approving tone. It works because the phrase sounds sincere for a moment, then sets up a joke, comparison or sudden twist in the next shot. Creators use it when something deserves credit but is about to be upstaged by a better, weirder or more personal choice. The clip gives edits a smug, knowing feel and lands especially well in side-by-side comparisons, tier jokes and preference memes.

This sound is best known online as part of the Jeremy Clarkson reaction meme built from a British motoring TV clip. The phrase spread through short comparison videos, image macros and caption memes because it neatly sets up a contrast between something objectively good and something personally preferred. It remains popular in edits on video platforms because the delivery is instantly recognizable and easy to pair with reveal cuts, rankings and preference jokes.
