About this sound

A creepy laugh clip tied to the “the fog is coming” internet meme, used to make ominous edits, surreal warnings, and dark punchlines feel unsettling.

This roughly 12-second clip centers on laughter associated with the ominous phrase “the fog is coming.” Its extended runtime lets the laugh build rather than landing as a single quick reaction, creating a creeping sense of dread and absurdity. The contrast between a familiar human laugh and an unexplained warning gives the audio its unsettling meme quality. In videos, it can shift an ordinary scene into mock horror or make a strange reveal feel deliberately cursed and unpredictable to viewers.

The precise creator and original recording behind this laugh are not reliably documented. Online, the clip is associated with “the fog is coming,” an ominous meme phrase used in absurd warnings, eerie captions, and deliberately unexplained posts. It spread through short-form edits and reposted audio, where creators paired the laugh with approaching fog, strange imagery, or fake predictions. The sound remains useful because its length supports a slow visual buildup while its laughter keeps the mood balanced between horror and obvious parody.
