About this sound

✦ AI

Hikaru Shida saying that doesn't work for me brother in this AEW sound effect, a short wrestling clip used for reactions when rejecting an idea or plan.

This is a short voice clip of AEW wrestler Hikaru Shida delivering the line that doesn't work for me brother in a flat, dismissive tone. The delivery is calm rather than angry, which makes the rejection feel funnier and more final, like a polite door closing on a bad suggestion. The phrase itself is borrowed from wrestling slang associated with refusing a creative idea, so hearing Shida say it adds an extra layer for wrestling fans. It lands best as a quick reaction, cutting off a proposal cleanly without needing any further explanation or argument afterwards at all.

The line became a long running wrestling joke because it was linked to Hulk Hogan refusing creative plans backstage, and it has since become shorthand among fans for any star shutting down an idea. Hikaru Shida's version spread through AEW clips and fan edits, with tags pointing to her appearance alongside RJ City on Hey EW. Wrestling fans share the short clip on social media and in edits whenever a booking decision, trade or storyline pitch is being mocked or dismissed online today.
