About this sound

A roaring Shrek sound clip from the Shrek movies, used in memes, edits, and funny reaction videos for mock intimidation or sudden chaotic moments.

This clip features Shrek letting out a loud ogre roar, the kind of aggressive, echoing yell fans associate with the Shrek films. It has a rough, exaggerated quality that makes it feel more funny than truly scary, which is exactly why it works so well in memes. The sound instantly shifts a scene into chaos, fake menace, or over-the-top reaction territory. Creators often use it to punch up an entrance, interrupt an awkward moment, or make a harmless situation feel absurdly dramatic.

This sound is associated with Shrek, the green ogre from DreamWorks' Shrek film series, which began in 2001. Roaring and yelling clips from the movies have stayed popular online because Shrek is instantly recognizable and widely used in ironic internet humor. Short Shrek audio moments get reused in meme compilations, gaming edits, and reaction posts where creators want a loud, familiar burst of comic intimidation. Its staying power comes from the character's huge meme status and the contrast between a fierce roar and a silly context.
