About this sound

An 11-second clip of Salt-N-Pepa's 1987 hip-hop hit "Push It," featuring its famous hook, used in dance edits, workout memes, and comic reveals.

This 11-second music clip captures the instantly recognizable hook from Salt-N-Pepa’s “Push It.” A driving electronic beat, rhythmic vocal delivery, and the repeated “push it real good” phrase create a bold, playful burst of energy. Because the command lands clearly and the groove starts fast, the audio gives visual action an immediate punch line. It works especially well when someone strains, shoves, dances, exercises, or commits to an over-the-top effort. The short runtime keeps the joke moving while leaving enough of the beat for viewers to recognize the song.

“Push It” was recorded by American hip-hop group Salt-N-Pepa and became a major crossover hit in the late 1980s. Released as a single in 1987, it is closely associated with the repeated “push it” and “push it real good” hooks. Decades of radio play, dance-floor use, film and television appearances, and online remixes helped keep the track recognizable. Meme creators still use its direct command and punchy rhythm to underline effort, movement, dancing, or an exaggerated physical action.
