About this sound

The iconic "Rise from your grave" voice clip from the game Altered Beast, often used in memes, retro edits, and dramatic comeback videos.

This sound is the famous deep announcer line "Rise from your grave," delivered with a booming, arcade-era effect. It has a sharp, theatrical tone that instantly feels retro, eerie, and over-the-top in the best way. Because the delivery is so dramatic, creators use it to turn a comeback, revival, or sudden return into a joke. Even a simple clip of someone standing back up or reappearing feels more legendary when this sound hits, which is why it still works so well in gaming memes and nostalgic edits.

This clip comes from Altered Beast, the Sega arcade game released in 1988, where a loud voice sample announces key moments. "Rise from your grave" became memorable partly because of its bold early digitized speech and campy delivery. Over time, it spread far beyond the game into GIFs, meme compilations, and retro gaming culture. It still gets used because the phrase is instantly recognizable, short, and perfect for any scene built around revival, return, or a sudden second chance.
