About this sound

A classic submarine sonar ping sound effect with a tense, echoing beep. People use it for radar scans, search scenes, stealth edits and suspenseful memes.

This sound is a clean, isolated submarine sonar ping: a sharp electronic beep followed by a hollow echo that fades into silence before repeating. It has the familiar feel of old naval movies and underwater search scenes, even though it works just as well for radar-style visuals. The clip creates instant tension, making viewers expect that something hidden is being tracked, detected or approached. Because it is simple and spacious, it can turn a quiet moment into a suspense beat without overpowering dialogue or the rest of the edit.

This clip is a generic sound effect commonly labeled as a submarine sonar ping or radar ping rather than a quote tied to one famous scene or character. Sounds like this became familiar through naval films, war games and broadcast suspense cues, then spread into short-form edits and memes as a simple way to signal detection or lurking danger. It still gets used because one ping instantly tells the viewer that something is being searched for, tracked or quietly approaching, even with almost no context.
