About this sound

A short clip from Bobby “Boris” Pickett’s 1962 novelty song Monster Mash, used for Halloween videos, costume reveals, and playful spooky edits.

This sound captures a brief section of Monster Mash, the playful novelty song performed by Bobby “Boris” Pickett and the Crypt-Kickers. Its theatrical vocals, danceable rhythm, and campy horror theme evoke a lively Halloween party rather than genuine fear. The clip gives videos an instantly recognizable spooky-season mood, making ordinary entrances, costumes, decorations, and monster-themed jokes feel more festive. Because the performance balances comedy with classic horror imagery, it works especially well when a scene is deliberately silly, nostalgic, or dramatically overdone.

Monster Mash was released in 1962 by Bobby “Boris” Pickett and the Crypt-Kickers. Pickett performed the lead vocal in a style inspired by horror-film actor Boris Karloff, while the lyrics describe monsters gathering for a dance craze. The novelty record became closely associated with Halloween and has repeatedly returned to popular culture through seasonal radio play, television, parties, and online videos.
