About this sound

A short French voice clip saying “Mais c’est nul,” meaning “But this is rubbish,” used to react to disappointing results, bad ideas, or awkward fails.

This brief French reaction clip features a voice saying “Mais c’est nul,” an expression that translates roughly as “But this is rubbish” or “This is so bad.” Its blunt delivery makes the criticism feel immediate, dismissive, and slightly comedic. The audio works especially well after an unimpressive reveal, a failed attempt, or a confidently presented idea that does not meet expectations. Because the line lasts only a couple of seconds, it lands as a quick verbal verdict without interrupting the pace of a video or conversation.

The exact original production or speaker behind this French clip is not reliably identified. Online, “Mais c’est nul” functions as a compact reaction meaning that something is bad, pointless, or disappointing. Its short runtime and clear verdict make it easy to insert after failed attempts, weak reveals, and awkward performances. It serves a role similar to a fail sound meme, but uses direct spoken criticism instead of a musical sting or impact effect. The phrase remains useful because French speakers recognize it instantly, while its tone is understandable even without translation.
