About this sound

A short Jacquouille la Fripouille quote from the French comedy Les Visiteurs, used in edits to make introductions feel medieval, servile, and comic.

This clip features Jacquouille la Fripouille introducing himself as someone’s humble servant in French. His eager delivery, rustic manner, and unmistakably medieval phrasing capture the character’s comic devotion and lack of modern social polish. The line is brief enough to work as a reaction but still establishes a complete joke, especially when paired with an exaggerated bow, an awkward arrival, or someone offering help far too enthusiastically. For viewers familiar with Les Visiteurs, the voice immediately recalls the film’s chaotic collision between medieval characters and modern France.

Jacquouille la Fripouille is the medieval squire played by Christian Clavier in Les Visiteurs, the 1993 French comedy directed by Jean-Marie Poiré. The film follows Jacquouille and his master, Godefroy de Montmirail, after they are accidentally transported to contemporary France. Jacquouille’s rough speech, excitable behavior, and deferential relationship with Godefroy made many of his lines memorable to French-speaking audiences. Short extracts remain useful in reaction videos, historical parodies, and nostalgic edits because the character’s voice conveys comic servitude immediately.
