About this sound

The panicked chicken scream from Hei Hei in Disney's Moana, used in memes and edits for sudden fear, confusion or chaotic reaction moments.

This clip is Hei Hei's sharp, panicky scream from Moana, the dim-witted rooster whose chaos often steals the scene. The sound is short, high-pitched and instantly funny, landing somewhere between a startled squawk and a full cartoon meltdown. It works because the scream feels innocent and ridiculous at the same time, so it can turn a simple fail, surprise or confused reaction into something much funnier. Viewers usually read it as pure brain-off panic, which makes it ideal for abrupt visual punchlines and goofy animal-energy edits.

Hei Hei is the rooster from Disney's animated film Moana, released in 2016. The character became a fan favorite because of his vacant expression, bad timing and chaotic energy throughout the movie. His scream spread online in meme edits, reaction videos and short clips where creators needed a fast, silly panic sound. It still gets used because the noise is instantly readable even without context: people hear it and immediately understand surprise, fear or clueless disaster.
