About this sound

A harsh mechanical FNAF 3 springlock failure sound tied to William Afton's fate, used online in horror edits, jump scares, and dark gaming memes.

This short horror sound represents the springlock failure associated with Five Nights at Freddy's 3. Harsh mechanical impacts, crushing noises, and distressed effects create the impression of a dangerous suit mechanism snapping shut. The clip evokes the grim fate of William Afton and instantly adds tension to an edit. Its brief runtime makes it effective as a sudden payoff after a character enters a suit, ignores a warning, or realizes something has gone terribly wrong. Viewers familiar with FNAF will quickly recognize the scene being referenced.

Five Nights at Freddy's 3 was released in 2015 and uses retro-style minigames to reveal important events surrounding William Afton and the haunted animatronics. One sequence depicts Afton entering a springlock suit before it fails, leading to his transformation into Springtrap. Sounds representing that moment became popular in fan animations, gameplay edits, and lore videos across social platforms. The clip remains useful because it conveys mechanical danger and recognizable FNAF horror without needing dialogue, much like the FNAF Jumpscare Scream used in related edits.
