About this sound

Ellis telling his buddy Keith's deep fried turkey story from Left 4 Dead 2, a classic game quote used in funny gameplay edits and memes.

This clip features Ellis from Left 4 Dead 2 launching into one of his rambling stories about his friend Keith trying to deep fry a turkey. The delivery is casual, chatty and a little oblivious, which is exactly why it lands so well. It sounds like a character filling dead air with a ridiculous personal anecdote, then slowly pulling you into the punchline. In edits, it gives scenes a laid back but goofy tone, especially when paired with fails, awkward pauses or any moment where someone starts oversharing.

The quote comes from Ellis in Left 4 Dead 2, Valve's co-op zombie shooter released in 2009. Ellis became memorable for his long, oddly cheerful stories about his friend Keith, and the deep fried turkey bit is one of the lines players remember most. Over time, fans clipped these stories and reused them in gaming memes, reaction edits and character quote compilations. The sound still works because Ellis sounds sincere while describing something completely foolish, which makes the line easy to drop into comedic setups.
