About this sound

The short Eekum Bokum voice clip from Banjo-Kazooie, heard with Mumbo Tokens. Creators use it for item pickups, goofy reveals and game nostalgia edits.

Eekum Bokum is the quick chant associated with Mumbo Tokens in Banjo-Kazooie. The clip is short, punchy and instantly recognizable to players, with a cartoony vocal delivery that sounds playful and a little magical. Because it lands so fast, it works well as a reward cue, a joke pickup sound or a nostalgic nod to late 90s platform games. In edits, it gives a tiny burst of game logic to the moment, making a simple object grab, reveal or level-up feel more satisfying and comedic.

Eekum Bokum comes from Banjo-Kazooie, the 1998 platform game by Rare, and is tied to Mumbo Tokens and the character Mumbo Jumbo. The line became memorable because players hear it repeatedly while collecting tokens throughout the game. Over time it spread into gaming compilations, retro nostalgia posts and meme edits as a shorthand for getting an item or unlocking progress. It still shows up in fan videos because the phrase is unusual, catchy and instantly linked to classic collectathon gameplay, much like the Zelda - Item Get sound in other pickup jokes.
