About this sound

Steve’s scream from Dead by Daylight became a meme sound for panic reactions and sudden danger moments. Used in gaming edits and TikTok clips across internet culture.

This clip is a brief, sharp scream associated with Steve Harrington in Dead by Daylight. It has that sudden panic energy people recognize from chase moments, jump scares and last-second mistakes in the game. Because it is so short, it lands fast and works like an instant reaction sound rather than a long voice line. In a video, it usually makes the moment feel more frantic, more dramatic and a little funnier, especially when someone gets caught, surprised or completely fumbles under pressure.

This sound is tied to Steve Harrington's appearance in Dead by Daylight, the asymmetrical horror game developed by Behaviour Interactive. Online, players and editors clipped his scream and turned it into a quick reaction audio for panic, surprise and messy gameplay moments. It spread through gaming memes, short edits and stream highlights because the delivery is instant and readable even in a one-second clip. It still shows up in horror game compilations and exaggerated reaction posts for that same reason.
