About this sound

This brief Death Note voice clip features Light Yagami saying “Damn it, he got me,” and suits anime edits or reactions to being caught and outsmarted.

This short voice clip captures Light Yagami reacting with the frustrated line, “Damn it, he got me,” in Death Note. His tense delivery conveys the instant he realizes that another person has anticipated his actions or gained the advantage. The abrupt admission works as a sharp punchline because it turns confidence into defeat within seconds. Viewers often recognize the contrast with Light’s calculating personality, making the audio effective for anime memes, failed plans, exposed mistakes, and moments when someone loses a battle of wits.

The line comes from Death Note, the anime adaptation of the manga created by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. It is associated with protagonist Light Yagami, whose attempts to stay ahead of investigators drive much of the story. Online, the brief English dialogue became useful as a reaction clip for strategic failures, unexpected reversals, and moments of reluctant defeat. Its continued appeal comes from how quickly Light’s realization communicates that a confident person has finally been outmaneuvered.
