About this sound

Balloon Boy's eerie laugh from Five Nights at Freddy's 2, used in gaming edits, jump-scare setups, and memes about something creepy approaching.

This clip features Balloon Boy’s high-pitched, childlike laughter from Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. The repeated giggles sound playful at first, but their distorted tone and connection to the character make them increasingly unsettling. In the game, the laugh can signal that Balloon Boy is moving closer, creating tension before he reaches the security office. Editors use the audio to turn innocent smiles, lurking figures, or sudden appearances into ominous moments. Its slow, taunting rhythm gives viewers the sense that an unseen threat is nearby and getting closer.

Balloon Boy is an animatronic character introduced in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, released in 2014. His laughter serves as an audio cue while he moves through the building toward the player’s office. Once inside, he interferes with the flashlight, leaving the player more vulnerable to other threats. The laugh became familiar through gameplay videos, horror compilations, fan animations, and short-form memes. It remains useful because its childlike delivery contrasts sharply with the danger associated with Balloon Boy, making even ordinary footage feel suspicious or threatening.
