About this sound

A playful phone clip of a voice singing 'Ayayay, I'm a little butterfly' in a sing-song style, popular as a funny Chinese phone meme sound for reaction videos.

This short clip captures a high, cheerful voice breaking into a sing-song chant of 'Ayayay, I'm a little butterfly,' delivered with the exaggerated, bouncy rhythm of a novelty phone ringtone or viral phone recording. The melody is simple and instantly catchy, with the repeated 'ayayay' rising before the butterfly line lands like a punchline. It sounds playful rather than polished, which is exactly why it sticks in the listener's head. Hearing it feels light, silly and unexpectedly joyful, turning an ordinary moment into a small burst of absurd humour that makes people smile before they even know why.

The clip is best known online as the 'Chinese phone' butterfly sound, a short sing-song recording that circulated as a meme audio rather than as a track from a known film or artist. Its charm comes from the mismatch between the dramatic 'ayayay' opening and the sweet, childlike butterfly line that follows, which made it easy to reuse across short videos, reaction edits and phone-themed jokes. Because the line is short, catchy and instantly recognisable even without context, creators keep returning to it for quick, lighthearted punchlines.
