About this sound

A clip from ATB’s 1998 trance classic, featuring its pitch-bent guitar riff. Creators use it for nostalgic edits, night drives and dance montages.

This sound captures the instantly recognizable melodic hook from ATB’s breakthrough electronic track “9 PM (Till I Come).” Its smooth, pitch-bent guitar tone floats over a steady trance rhythm, creating a dreamy sense of forward motion. The combination feels equally suited to a late-night club, an open road, or a nostalgic look back at the 1990s. In videos, the clip can make ordinary movement feel cinematic and transportive, especially when the distinctive riff arrives alongside a reveal, transition, or sequence of lights passing after dark.

German DJ and producer ATB released “9 PM (Till I Come)” in 1998 as his debut single. Built around a distinctive guitar sound created through studio processing, the track became an international dance hit and reached number one on the UK Singles Chart in 1999. Its melodic hook helped define the era’s accessible trance sound. Decades later, the recording remains familiar through dance compilations, radio nostalgia, club sets, short-form edits, and videos that evoke nighttime travel or turn-of-the-millennium electronic music.
