About this sound

A brief harp glissando used as a flashback and memory cue, familiar from screen edits that cut to an old recollection, dream, or nostalgic reveal.

This short audio clip features a shimmering harp flourish associated with flashbacks, memories, and dreamlike transitions. Its rising and falling notes create a soft, magical pause that signals a shift away from the present moment. Editors often place it just before an earlier scene, imagined scenario, or sentimental recollection appears. The delicate tone can make a transition feel nostalgic and reflective, but it also works humorously when paired with an exaggerated or obviously false memory. At under five seconds, it delivers the cue without interrupting the pace of an edit.

The exact production source of this particular recording is not identified. Harp flourishes have long served as recognizable transition cues in film, television, animation, and online video, especially when a scene enters a memory or dream. This version is commonly described in Portuguese as “arpa de flashback,” meaning flashback harp. Its compact length makes it suitable for memes and short-form edits, while the familiar musical gesture communicates a time shift even without captions or narration. It remains useful because audiences understand the cue almost instantly.
