About this sound

A short reaction voice clip saying “are you serious right now,” widely used in memes, TikToks and edits to call out something absurd, fake or annoying.

This sound is a brief spoken reaction clip built around the line “are you serious right now.” It has a sharp, slightly incredulous delivery that instantly reads as disbelief, frustration or secondhand embarrassment. Because the phrase is simple and recognizable, creators use it as a punchy reaction after a bad take, an obvious mistake or an over-the-top reveal. The effect on a viewer is immediate: it underlines that the moment on screen is ridiculous and invites the audience to laugh, cringe or agree with the reaction.

This clip circulates online mainly as a reaction audio rather than as a clearly documented quote tied to one widely agreed source. It spread through short-form meme edits, reposts and caption videos where the line is used to express disbelief in a quick, familiar way. Its staying power comes from how flexible the phrase is: it fits cringe moments, obvious lies, failed stunts and awkward social posts. In meme culture, it fills a similar role to shocking reaction sounds that instantly tell viewers how to read the scene.
