This sound is the famous lion roar heard at the start of classic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer films. It opens with the dramatic studio-intro feel, then delivers a deep, full-bodied roar that instantly signals old Hollywood. Even as a short clip, it sounds grand, theatrical and recognizable to many viewers. Creators use it to introduce something with exaggerated importance, parody vintage cinema, or add a dramatic reveal before a punchline. The effect is both nostalgic and slightly over-the-top, which makes it work well in comedy edits and movie-themed content.

The roar is associated with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, whose lion mascot became one of the most recognizable studio intros in film history. Different lion recordings were used across the company's branding over time, but the MGM lion roar stayed famous because generations of viewers heard it before movies.
