O tym dźwięku

A short cricket chirp meme used to signal awkward silence or a joke that did not land. Common in reaction edits, memes and WhatsApp clips.

This sound is the classic “cri cri” cricket chirp heard after an awkward pause, a bad punchline or a moment when nobody knows what to say. It is very short and dry, with the familiar night-cricket rhythm that instantly reads as silence made funny. In edits, the clip works like a reaction on its own, turning empty space into a joke. Because it is so brief, creators use it to underline embarrassment, failed humor, social flops and dead-air moments without needing any extra explanation.

The “cri cri” cricket sound has long been used online as shorthand for awkward silence, especially in Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking meme culture where “cri cri” imitates a cricket chirp. It became common in short reaction edits, WhatsApp audios and meme compilations as a quick way to show that a joke failed or a room went quiet. Its staying power comes from how instantly recognizable the sound is and how well it fits very short clips, much like awkward cricket in other meme formats.
