A short clip of Raul Gil saying “xiii,” a Brazilian TV reaction sound used in memes and edits when something awkward, shady or embarrassing happens.

This clip is the classic “xiii” reaction from Brazilian TV host Raul Gil, delivered as a quick, drawn-out interjection that sounds like mild shock, suspicion or playful disapproval. The tone lands somewhere between “uh-oh” and “that was bad,” which makes it perfect for reaction edits. Even though it is only a few seconds long, it instantly changes the mood of a video by highlighting an uncomfortable moment, a failed joke or a scene where someone clearly said the wrong thing.

This sound is associated with Raul Gil, a well-known Brazilian television presenter, and it spread online as a reaction clip beyond its TV context. In meme culture, “xiii” became a fast shorthand for embarrassment, doubt or the feeling that someone just messed up in public. It remains popular because the delivery is short, expressive and instantly understood by Portuguese-speaking audiences, especially in edits, reposts and chat-style videos where a tiny reaction sound can carry the whole punchline.
