The short flee sound from Undertale, used when escaping a battle. Creators add it to gaming clips, fails, and fast exits for a retro RPG punch.

This clip is the brief sound effect associated with fleeing in Undertale battles. It is short, sharp, and distinctly game-like, with the simple retro feel that matches the rest of Undertale's menu and combat audio. Because it plays right as a character backs out of a fight, it gives a scene an instant sense of retreat, panic, or comic refusal. In edits, that tiny burst of sound works well when someone suddenly changes their mind, runs from trouble, or bails out of an awkward situation.

This sound comes from Undertale, the 2015 indie RPG created by Toby Fox. The game's battle system made small interface sounds memorable, and the flee sound became recognizable to players who know its combat menus and humorous tone. Online, it shows up in Undertale memes, pixel-art edits, and gaming compilations whenever a person or character decides not to fight. It still gets used because the clip is extremely short, easy to place on a cut, and instantly reads as a fast retreat to fans of the game.
