The famous “ooh wah ah ah ah” intro from Disturbed's Down with the Sickness, used in memes, heavy music edits and over-the-top reaction clips.

This sound is the instantly recognizable vocal burst from the opening of Disturbed's Down with the Sickness. It hits with a guttural, rhythmic “ooh wah ah ah ah” chant that feels aggressive, dramatic and slightly unhinged in the best meme-friendly way. Because the clip is so short and punchy, it works as a comic shock button: one second of silence or setup, then a sudden nu metal blast that makes a scene feel louder, edgier or absurdly intense. Viewers usually read it as a cue for chaos, rage or exaggerated hype.

This clip comes from the opening vocal phrase of Down with the Sickness by Disturbed, released in 2000. The intro became a recognizable nu metal hook far beyond the full song, spreading through meme edits, reaction videos and short-form posts as a shorthand for instant aggression or chaos. It still gets reused because even people who do not know the track often recognize the sound on contact. Online, it fills a similar role to sudden suspense, but with a louder, more comedic punch.
