The classic Mario death sound from the Super Mario games, used in memes, fail edits and gaming clips when a character loses or a moment goes wrong.

This clip is the familiar Mario death jingle: a short, descending game cue that plays right after Mario is defeated. It is brief, instantly recognizable and carries a clear feeling of failure, setback or losing a life. Because the melody is so tied to classic platform games, it lands fast in edits and jokes without needing any setup. Viewers usually read it as a playful way to mark a mistake, a sudden wipeout or a plan that backfires in a dramatic but funny way.

The Mario death jingle comes from Nintendo's Super Mario games and became widely recognized through decades of platforming gameplay and online video culture. Its short, unmistakable melody spread beyond gameplay clips into meme edits, reaction posts and compilations of fails. Creators still use it because the meaning is immediate: the moment someone loses, gets eliminated or makes a costly mistake, the sound communicates that outcome in less than a second.
