The Bruh sound effect is an ultra-short, dry, and low-pitched vocalization of a single word. It acts as the ultimate audio cue for moments of absolute disbelief, awkwardness, or instant regret. When played, the deep voice delivers a deadpan punchline that instantly highlights a fail or a cringe-worthy decision. It has a heavy, comedic impact on viewers, immediately signaling that someone has made a terrible mistake or said something incredibly foolish. Its brief duration makes it a perfect tool for punctuation, landing like a physical facepalm in audio form.

This iconic audio clip originated on the Vine platform in May 2014. Viner CallHimBzar posted a video of high school basketball player Tony Farmer collapsing in court during his sentencing, dubbed with a voiceover of his friend Headgraphix saying the word. The post sparked the viral #BruhMovement hashtag, inspiring thousands of creators to make their own edits. Alongside other legendary reaction clips like the Scream meme, the sound transitioned to YouTube and TikTok.
