이 사운드에 대하여

The classic Wololo priest chant from Age of Empires, heard during unit conversions and used in gaming edits when someone suddenly changes sides.

Wololo is the distinctive chant associated with priests converting enemy units in the original Age of Empires. The brief vocal clip features a resonant male voice delivering the invented-sounding phrase with theatrical conviction. Because a successful conversion makes a unit change allegiance, the chant has become an instantly recognizable cue for switching teams, opinions, colors, or loyalties. Its compact rhythm and exaggerated delivery give sudden transformations a playful, nostalgic punch, especially for viewers familiar with classic real-time strategy games.

Wololo comes from Age of Empires, the real-time strategy game developed by Ensemble Studios and released in 1997. Priests use vocal chants while converting enemy units, and the memorable phrase became closely identified with that mechanic. Players carried it beyond the game through forum jokes, remixes, videos, cosplay, and transformation memes. It remains popular because the sound communicates conversion almost instantly, while its unusual pronunciation is easy to imitate and recognizable to generations of strategy game fans.
