The classic ICQ notification sound, best known as the short 'uh-oh' alert from the messaging app. People use it for old internet jokes and chat popups.

This clip is the classic ICQ message notification, a short electronic alert widely recognized as the app's famous 'uh-oh' sound. It plays in just a couple of seconds, with a bright, punchy tone that instantly signals an incoming message. Because so many early internet users heard it over and over, the sound now feels nostalgic, slightly goofy, and very specific to the era of desktop chat clients. In edits and memes, it quickly tells viewers that a message arrived, a conversation started, or an old-school online moment is being referenced.

The sound comes from ICQ, one of the best known instant messaging platforms of the late 1990s and 2000s. Its message alert became memorable enough to outlive the app itself, especially among people who used desktop chat software in that era. Online, the clip spread through nostalgic edits, old internet compilations, and memes about unexpected messages or sudden online drama. It still gets used because a single ICQ notification immediately evokes early messenger culture and the feeling of being called back to an older version of the web.
