A short puking and retching sound effect that mimics someone throwing up, used in funny videos and memes to gross out viewers or react to disgusting moments.

This is a brief, cartoonish puking sound that packs a gagging retch and a wet splatter into less than two seconds. It starts with a strained heave, almost like a cough that turns into a vomit, then lands on a messy, sloppy noise that is instantly recognisable even without any visuals. Played on its own it is gross in a funny, exaggerated way rather than realistic or disturbing, which is why it works as a punchline. It makes listeners wince, laugh, or both at once, and it instantly signals disgust, nausea, or a joke that has gone too far.

Short vomiting sounds like this one have long been a staple of comedy soundboards, where a single gross noise can sell a joke without any dialogue. Online, creators reuse clips like Pukey in reaction videos, prank edits, gaming streams and short-form memes whenever something looks, tastes or feels revolting. Its appeal is simple and universal: almost everyone recognises the retch instantly, so it needs no explanation. Because it is under two seconds long, it slots easily into fast edits and keeps working as a quick, repeatable gag for disgust.

What is the Pukey sound?

It is a brief, cartoonish puking sound effect featuring a gagging retch and a wet splatter, lasting under two seconds. It is meant to sound exaggerated and funny rather than realistic, making it ideal for comedy edits.

How do creators usually use the Pukey sound?

Creators usually drop it over a reaction shot, a gross food moment, a failed challenge or a disgusting reveal. It works best as a single punchline at the peak of the joke, rather than repeated throughout a video.

Is the Pukey sound suitable for prank videos?

Yes, it fits prank and gross-out videos well because the retch instantly signals disgust without needing dialogue. Keep it short and sparing, though, as looping it can quickly make a funny clip feel unpleasant.
