Peguei is a short Brazilian voice clip of a man shouting he caught it, stretched for comic effect and used as a reaction sound in memes and funny edits.

The clip is a single excited shout of peguei, the Portuguese word for I got it or I caught it, dragged out on the final vowel until it turns into a celebration. The voice jumps in loud and triumphant, holds the stretched eeeei with rising energy, then cuts off sharply after about three seconds. It sounds like the moment a grab, catch or lucky pickup finally lands. Viewers instantly read it as victory and surprise, which makes the shout feel bigger and funnier than the small win it is reacting to.

Peguei comes from Portuguese everyday speech, where the word simply announces that something was caught or obtained, and the stretched delivery turns that plain statement into a meme reaction. The recording is credited to Diego Basso, but its wider life is on soundboards and short video edits where users replay the shout out of context. Shared as a quick download and looped in Brazilian humour posts, it works less as dialogue and more as a standalone punchline for grabs, wins and sudden successes that need instant emphasis.

What does peguei mean in the Peguei sound?

Peguei is Portuguese for I got it or I caught it. In this clip the final vowel is stretched out, turning a simple announcement into an excited shout that signals a successful grab, catch or pickup.

Who is credited for the Peguei sound?

The recording is credited to Diego Basso in its audio metadata. Beyond that credit, the clip circulates mainly as a standalone soundboard effect, shared and reused by creators rather than tied to a confirmed scene or performance context.

How do creators use the Peguei sound effect?

Creators place it right on a catch, grab, snatch or small win so the shout acts as the punchline. It works best kept short and loud over quiet footage, with the cut ending as soon as the stretched shout stops.
