The Nemesis scream from Resident Evil 3 is the monster's terrifying roar, used in gaming edits, jumpscare memes and horror videos for instant dread.

This is the guttural scream of Nemesis, the hulking bioweapon who stalks Jill Valentine through Raccoon City. It is not a clean shout but a deep, ragged roar that tears out with distortion and reverb, sounding half human and half animal. The volume spikes suddenly, filling the mix and signalling that something unstoppable has arrived. Listeners feel it as a threat rather than dialogue, a warning that running has already started too late. Placed over a quiet scene, it instantly turns tension into panic and makes even a joke feel like a boss encounter.

Nemesis debuted in Capcom's Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, released for PlayStation in 1999, as a relentless Tyrant programmed to hunt S.T.A.R.S. members. His distorted growls and roars became as recognisable as his repeated word STARS, and clips were later ripped and shared on soundboards and in fan edits. As horror gaming clips spread on YouTube and TikTok, the scream sat alongside the FNAF jumpscare scream as a shorthand for sudden monster terror, and it remains popular because one roar instantly identifies a pursuer no player can easily stop.
