Eduard Khil's cheerful wordless Trololo singing from his 1976 Soviet song, now a viral meme sound used for playful trolling, jokes and video reveals.

The Trololo sound is Eduard Khil's bright, wordless vocal performance, a rapid la-la-la style melody sung with theatrical enthusiasm over a jaunty orchestral backing. Without any lyrics to follow, the tune feels instantly cheerful and slightly absurd, rising and falling in a bouncy, old-fashioned pop rhythm that sticks in the head after a single listen. Played over a modern clip, it turns an ordinary moment into a knowing joke, signalling mischief, fake seriousness or a deliberately over-the-top reveal while keeping the mood warm rather than mocking.

Eduard Khil, a Soviet baritone, performed the wordless song on Soviet television in 1976, after its original lyrics were considered unsuitable for broadcast, leaving only his joyful vocalising. Decades later, a clip of the performance spread on YouTube around 2009 and 2010, where viewers nicknamed him the Trololo Man and shared the tune as a symbol of good-natured trolling. Its catchy, lyric-free melody made it easy to reuse across languages, and it remains popular as a lighthearted internet meme.
