A drawn-out faaaaaah scream used as a scare reaction, perfect for jump moments, pranks and funny fail clips in short videos, memes and reaction edits.

Faaaaaah (susto) is a short, high-pitched scream that stretches a single frightened vowel into a panicked, almost cartoonish wail. It starts sharp, holds the tension for a couple of seconds, then drops off just as suddenly, which makes it feel both startling and funny at the same time. Listeners instantly recognise it as the sound of someone being caught off guard, so it lands best when the surprise is visible on screen. Played over a jump scare, a sudden fall or an unexpected reveal, it turns a brief shock into a punchline and gives the audience a clear cue to laugh rather than just flinch.

The exact origin of this clip is not tied to a known film, show or viral video, and it circulates mainly as a short user-shared scare sound. The word susto, meaning fright or scare in Spanish and Portuguese, explains why listeners use it for startled reactions rather than as a musical or dialogue clip. Its two-second length makes it easy to drop into memes, reaction videos and chat messages, where a single exaggerated scream can signal surprise without any explanation. That simplicity is why it keeps appearing in prank edits and jump-scare compilations.

What is the faaaaaah susto sound?

It is a short, drawn-out scream used to express fright or surprise, often labelled susto because that word means scare in Spanish and Portuguese. Creators use it as a quick reaction sound for jump scares and startled moments.

Where does the faaaaaah susto sound come from?

Its precise original source is not publicly documented, and it is best treated as a user-shared meme sound rather than a clip from a known film or show. That lack of a clear origin has not stopped it spreading as a generic scare reaction online.

How can I use the faaaaaah susto sound in a video?

Place it exactly when the surprise appears on screen, keep it to a single play, and pair it with a quick zoom or cut to the shocked face. Avoid using it repeatedly in one edit, because the stretched scream works best as a single sudden punchline.
