The “an enemy has been slain” announcer line from League of Legends, used in gaming edits to mark a knockout, victory, or sudden defeat online.

This short clip features the dramatic announcer phrase “an enemy has been slain,” familiar from League of Legends matches. The clear voice line delivers an immediate sense of achievement, confirming that an opposing player has been defeated. Its serious, authoritative delivery also works outside gameplay, where editors use it to exaggerate minor victories, embarrassing mistakes, or comedic takedowns. Because the message is brief and instantly understandable, it can turn an ordinary moment into a mock battle highlight without interrupting the pace of a video.

The phrase is associated with the announcer system in League of Legends, the multiplayer game released by Riot Games in 2009. During a match, announcer messages communicate major events, including champion eliminations, objectives, and team milestones. The wording became recognizable beyond the game as players reused it in montages, streams, and short comedy edits. It remains popular because it gives any apparent defeat the weight of an official in-game event, much like other tactical callouts such as Enemy Spotted.
