이 사운드에 대하여

The famous ooh wah ah ah ah scream from Disturbed's Down with the Sickness, used in memes and edits for dramatic reveals, fails and over-the-top hype moments.

This is the short, guttural vocal burst that opens Disturbed's Down with the Sickness, a rapid ooh wah ah ah ah delivered with raw, distorted intensity in just over a second. It starts low and almost animalistic, then snaps into a sharp, shouting scream that feels instantly aggressive and theatrical. Because the sound is so recognisable, dropping it into a clip immediately signals that something unhinged, dramatic or absurd is about to happen, turning an ordinary moment into a punchline and making viewers brace for chaos before they even see what follows.

Down with the Sickness was released by Disturbed in 2000 as a single from their debut album The Sickness, and its opening vocalisation quickly became one of the most recognisable moments in nu metal. The short scream was later clipped, remixed and shared across meme pages and short-form video, where its aggressive energy made it a shorthand for losing control or going all out. Two decades on, it survives because the sound is instantly recognisable even without the song around it.
