Karen Bernardi shouts Devagar, Portuguese for slowly, in this short voice clip. Creators use it to slow a scene down or call out someone rushing.

This is a short, punchy voice clip of Karen Bernardi shouting the Portuguese word devagar, meaning slowly or slow down. Her delivery is loud, emphatic and almost scolding, with the word stretched just enough to land like a command rather than a suggestion. It cuts through a scene instantly, turning a rushed moment into a joke about needing to pause, breathe and take things at a gentler pace. Because the word is so direct and easy to recognise even for listeners who do not speak Portuguese, it works as a comic brake, a reaction to chaos and a playful way to tell someone to calm down.

Devagar is the Portuguese word for slowly, and this clip is credited on the soundboard to Karen Bernardi, whose emphatic delivery turned a simple instruction into a shareable reaction sound. It circulates mainly as a short meme audio, passed between creators who need a quick, unmistakable way to say slow down without explaining the joke. Its appeal comes from that clarity: even viewers who do not know Portuguese can hear the urgency and the humour in the tone, so it keeps appearing in reaction videos, edits and short-form clips.

What does devagar mean?

Devagar is Portuguese for slowly or slow down. In this clip it is delivered as a firm, shouted instruction, so creators use it when they want someone, or a scene, to pause and take things at a calmer pace.

Who says devagar in this sound?

The sound is credited to Karen Bernardi. She delivers the single word with a loud, emphatic tone that makes it sound like a direct command rather than a gentle suggestion.

How can I use the devagar sound in a video?

Place it where the action becomes rushed or chaotic, then let the shout interrupt the scene before slowing the pace down. It works especially well for reaction clips, comedy edits and moments when a character is doing too much at once.
