The WWOS cricket sound from Nine's Wide World of Sports broadcasts in Australia, a short broadcast sting fans use for cricket edits and match moments.

This is the short Wide World of Sports cricket sting associated with Australian television cricket coverage. It has that clean broadcast feel, a quick musical hit and polished intro energy that instantly signals a match is starting or a big moment is about to be replayed. At just under ten seconds it is long enough to build anticipation but short enough to drop over a highlight without taking over the clip. Viewers who grew up with summer cricket on TV recognise the tone immediately, which is why it works so well as a nostalgic cue.

Wide World of Sports is Nine Network's long-running Australian sports brand, closely linked with televised cricket during the decades when Nine held the home international rights. Its presentation, graphics and stings became part of how many Australian fans remember summer test matches and one-day games. Short broadcast clips like this one now circulate online as soundboard sounds, shared by fans who associate the style with classic commentary, packed grounds and highlight replays long after those broadcasts ended.
