このサウンドについて

The viral 'Why are you gay?' quote from a Ugandan TV interview, used in memes, awkward edits and reaction clips when someone says something unexpected.

This clip is the famous deadpan line "Why are you gay?" delivered in a televised interview, with a serious tone that makes the moment instantly awkward and funny. The audio is short, clean, and easy to recognize, so it lands fast in meme edits. Creators use it as a reaction when a conversation takes a bizarre turn, when someone gets called out in a joking way, or when they want to cut tension with an absurd non sequitur. Its humor comes from the blunt phrasing and the uncomfortable pause it creates.

The quote comes from a Ugandan television interview that later spread widely online as a reaction meme. A host asks activist Pepe Julian Onziema, "Why are you gay?" and the clipped delivery became a popular soundbite on YouTube, TikTok, and short meme edits. It is still used because the line is instantly recognizable and works as a fast reaction to awkward, confusing, or unintentionally revealing moments. It often appears in the same kind of edit style as bruh and other abrupt meme reactions.
